GRAND JURY PRIZE

Saints and Warriors Wins at the Calgary International Film Festival

We just got back from a whirlwind trip to Alberta — and I’m still floating.

On September 22nd, Saints and Warriors screened at the Calgary International Film Festival (CIFF), and while I was only in town for less than 24 hours, it was packed with incredible energy, brilliant filmmakers, and a huge moment I’ll never forget:

We were awarded the Grand Jury Prize for Best Canadian Documentary Feature.

To say I’m honoured is an understatement. CIFF is one of Canada’s most respected film festivals, and to receive this recognition from a jury of film professionals is a deeply meaningful affirmation of our work and this story’s place in the national conversation.

The Screening & Q&A

I was joined in Calgary by our producer Michael Grand, and together we took part in a post-screening Q&A with an engaged and thoughtful audience. The room was full of questions, laughter, and reflections — the kind of screening that reminds you why we tell these stories in the first place.

Even in such a short trip, the love we felt was huge. Thank you to the CIFF team for welcoming us, and to the Grand Jury for seeing the heart and power behind Saints and Warriors.
